How to grow Basil Sow Indoors thinly roughly 5 seeds per 5 cm pot in Spring to early summer. Cover the seeds with compost and keep warm and watered. When seedlings emerge, place in a warm and light spot. You can cover with a bag to aid germination, which takes approx 14-21 days Prick out the weaker seedlings, leaving just 3 plants per pot. When they have more than 5 ‘true’ leaves, transplant to their final positions wait until frost risk has passed to plant out and space 23 cm apart. Can also be grown on indoors The main requirement of Basil is plenty of sunshine.
