Delphiniums are the stars of the early summer border. Plants form low mounds of deeply-cut green leaves, bearing tall spikes of satiny flowers – Hardy perennial Excellent for the smaller garden, also nice in mixed containers.

Sowing instructions

• Sow indoors - Late winter to mid spring quarter inch 0.5cm deep in trays of seed compost - Cover seed with vermiculite. Keep moist and warm - 15-20°c / 60 – 68°f is ideal
• Thin out when seedlings have developed 2-4 leaves, spacing at least 1inch apart . Harden off and plant outdoors in late spring - spacing 18inches (45cm) apart

Or Sow outdoors Late spring to mid summer in a seed bed Keep moist .Thin seedlings to 2 inches (5cm) apart as soon as they develop. Transplant to flowering position in Autumn to flower the following year. Use a high phosphorous fertilizer each year, in early spring

Plant delphiniums in full sun. This compact strain produces flowers in a range of shades, from blue, through to purple, lavender, soft pink and white. Removing faded spikes at the base will encourage repeat blooming. FLOWERS from early summer
