Tender and true parsnip - Long-rooted variety of high quality, showing good canker resistance. Long, smooth-skinned roots. Probably the best flavoured variety to use for both the kitchen and exhibition. Parsnips are a good source of energy boosting carbohydrates and are high in Vitamin C and potassium. Qty - 500 seeds
White Gem Parsnip - An excellent tried and tested variety which has shown that it can be grown successfully in virtually all soil types. It also has a very good canker resistance which results in lots of fine, medium length, smooth skinned, high quality, fine flavoured parsnips.Long standing, low maintenance crop, popular as a large standard crop harvested over a long period (or cleared at one time), or as a ‘mini-veg’ crop. Qty - 500 seeds
How to grow Parsnips Sow seeds in Spring to early summer, 1cm deep and 30cm apart. Sow clusters of 4 seeds every 20cm and thin out to the strongest seedlings after germination. Germination is very slow. Harvest the roots from autumn onwards, leaving them in the ground until required. They will do well on ordinary well drained and cultivated soil in full sun.
